Tony Vitello recaps Tennessee’s walk-off win versus Vanderbilt.

No. 20 Tennessee (24-14, 6-10 SEC) defeated No. 4 Vanderbilt (29-9, 13-3 SEC), 4-3 in 12 innings, on Friday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

Griffin Merritt hit a walk-off home run in the 12th inning for Tennessee’s series-opening victory.

Merritt went 1-for-3 in the contest, recording one RBI and one run.

The win ended Tennessee’s four-game losing streak. Tennessee has a five-game winning streak versus Vanderbilt. The win streak marks the Vols’ longest against Vanderbilt since winning five straight from 1995-97.

First pitch for game No. 2 on Saturday is slated for noon EDT and will be televised by ESPN2. Sunday’s series finale will take place at 1 p.m. EDT (ESPN2).
