The Seattle Seahawks’ rivals in the Valley of the Sun made some moves this past week. No, they didn’t add any new player or make any splashy trade. Instead, they unveiled new uniforms.
After nearly 20 years, the Arizona Cardinals finally decided to give themselves an updated look. It is not exactly a radical change. In fact, they’ve gone in a much more simplistic direction.

Arizona is still keeping their red, white and black color scheme. They’ll use their traditional white helmet for home and away games, but use their new black one (which debuted last year) for the all black alternates.
Speaking for myself, I have long felt the Cardinals needed to update their uniforms. Not that the previous ones were bad, but I’ve always felt they were too busy, and could benefit from “cleaning up” their look like the Cincinnati Bengals did a few years ago.
However, I think they cleaned up a bit too much and have gone far too generic in their design. It doesn’t seem like I am the only one who feels this way either, as folks online sounded off. Including those who feel these uniforms might look a bit… familiar.
