Auburn softball’s place in D1Softball’s Field of 64 ahead of Alabama series

The Tigers are in a good spot for postseason play now, but a series win at Alabama would do wonders for their resume.

Auburn softball has played very well over the last two weeks.

The No. 19 Tigers ended the series at No. 13 Florida by knocking off the Gators in the series finale, 7-0. Since then, they have won four of their last five games, which includes a series win over No. 15 LSU.

The recent success of Auburn softball has caught the attention of the experts at D1Softball, as they have recently listed the Tigers as a No. 2 seed in the latest Field of 64 projection.

According to the latest projection, Auburn will be heading to the Sunshine State to compete in the Tallahassee Regional hosted by Florida State, which is predicted to be the No. 4 overall seed. Charlotte and Princeton are also projected to participate in the Tallahassee Regional.

Auburn is currently No. 24 in the latest Ratings Power Index with a 33-13 record. Their resume is respectable as they hold a 24-3 record against nonconference teams, and are 4-9 against teams ranked in the top 25 of the RPI.

Auburn has a chance to increase their playoff this weekend as they travel to No. 14 Alabama for a three-game set. Auburn is 4-5 in true away games, and the Crimson Tide is currently No. 11 in the RPI. A series win in Tuscaloosa would surely help Auburn in getting a better spot in the postseason.
