USC commit who transferred to Ole Miss suddenly steps away from Rebels, Lane Kiffin

Does #USC have a path here? Even if not, this is a zig-zagging player relocation story whose end is hard to predict.

Braxton Myers is a 6’1, 185-pound safety from Coppell High School in Coppell, Texas. He was a four-star recruit. He was rated as the No. 17 safety in America and the No. 38 player from the state of Texas’s 2023 class by the industry-generated 247Sports Composite index. He is the son of former Alabama and NFL defensive tackle Michael Myers.

Myers picked up a total of 35 offers. Auburn, Arkansas and LSU were among his finalists before his initial commitment to USC.

Myers decomitted from USC on Sept. 7, 2022, and committed to Ole Miss on Sept. 29. He took his official visit to Oxford over the weekend of Oct. 14, and signed his letter of intent with Ole Miss on Dec. 21.

The odds aren’t good that USC has a way back into this recruitment, but if there is something for Trojan fans to glean from this portal story, it is simply that portal openings are always emerging, sometimes in unexpected ways from unexpected places. A roster improvement can emerge precisely when no one sees it coming.
