Replacing an experienced QB is a difficult task, especially when they were a Heisman Trophy winner and arguably the best player in program history, such as Bryce Young. The former Crimson Tide phenom looks to be the first-ever Alabama player selected No. 1 overall in next week’s NFL draft and he will be impossible to replace.
However, Nick Saban has been preparing for this day for two years now and he has a plan in place.
The Tide has two incredibly talented guys in the quarterback room competing for the starting job between Jalen Milroe and Ty Simpson. Saban has done a great job of re-establishing the offensive line as well as a handful of really solid running backs to take some of the pressure off of the quarterback position, regardless of the starter.
Matt Zenitz of On3 reports that neither Milroe nor Simpson has clearly separated from the other yet. Zenitz also goes on to say, “It seems like Alabama could still have interest in adding another QB if a certain caliber of player hits the transfer portal market in the coming weeks.”
This comes on the heels of rumors of Miami Hurricanes quarterback, Tyler Van Dyke, having an interest in the Tide. If the Tide were to bring in another guy from the portal I think it would be likely that both Milroe and Simpson depart via the portal. Personally, I like the QB room we already have and want to see these two compete for the job.
Roll Tide Wire will continue to monitor the QB battle going down in Tuscaloosa.
