Nikola Vucevic on his free agency: ‘The Bulls will have priority’

The big man hopes to re-sign with the Bulls this summer.

The Chicago Bulls have themselves a number of decisions to make this offseason after missing the playoffs this season.

One of their top decisions will be to re-sign center Nikola Vucevic or to let him walk in free agency.

For Vucevic, he hopes to make Chicago his home for the foreseeable future.

“For me, obviously, the Bulls will have priority,” Vucevic said during his exit interview following Friday’s loss to Miami in the play-in. “I would like to stay here, but that’s on the front office to decide…That’s as much as I can say.”

Vucevic and the Bulls are in an interesting spot as the big man’s name has been floated in trade rumors over the last year going back to last season’s trade deadline.

With a core of Vooch alongside DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine, it’s easy to wonder if this Big 3 is capable of contending or if switching up the roster would be of benefit of the front office.

“I’ll be a free agent. I’ll see what else is out there,” Vucevic said. “Obviously, I’ll test the market. But, like I said, I’ve been here two and a half years now. I like my time here.”
