Gators ahead of the pack for 4-star in-state wide receiver

Here’s another 2024 blue-chip recruit that came away from a recent visit impressed with Billy Napier and the Gators.

Florida football has played host to numerous high school recruits since the end of the dead period at the start of March, bringing in some of the top prep prospects from around the nation into the comfortable confines of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Those efforts have begun to pay dividends in recent days as the staff hands out offers and athletes whittle down their preferred destinations.

Among those high on what Billy Napier is building in Gainesville is four-star wide receiver Terrence “TJ” Moore out of Tampa (Florida) Catholic in the 2024 cycle, who recently made an unofficial visit and came away impressed with what he saw.

“They are on top,” Moore told Swamp 247’s Blake Alderman. “It was really just the staff and the facility when I took my visit. They gave me a really good family vibe. They made it feel like a good place to actually go to school at and a place I would be taken care of. Coach [Billy] Gonzales has produced a lot of guys, and he showed me a slideshow of all the players he’s produced.”

Head coach Billy Napier has been the 6-foot-3-inch, 190-pound pass-catcher’s main point of contact, giving the high school junior a sense of priority with the program.

“He’s been a big part in my interest there too, because he’s probably the one who communicates with me the most,” he told Alderman. “It’s felt good knowing how much he wants me. He tells me how much he wants me at Florida. He checks up on me a lot. They have him hitting me up, some of their commits, and even the fans are trying to recruit me. The fans are definitely active on every single social media I have. Twitter, Tic Tok, Instagram, everything.”

The Sunshine State product tells Swamp247 that he has finished up with his unofficial visits and is turning his attention to official visits this summer.

“I am probably done with unofficial visits right now. I think I will probably start back up around the summer for official visits. I haven’t set any up right now. I have thought about Ohio State, Clemson, Tennessee, LSU maybe, USC. I think I may be going to Clemson the first weekend of June, but I haven’t set it yet. That is what I am thinking.”

If you are thinking that list does not leave any room for the Gators, you are correct. Given his proximity to the university currently residing in Tampa, however, a game day visit up I-75 to the Swamp seems a more likely outcome.

Moore is ranked No. 237 overall and No. 35 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 147 and 26, respectively. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has the Central Florida Knights ahead of the pack with a 21.3% chance of landing him, followed by the Florida State Seminoles (18.6%), Miami Hurricanes (16.0%) and Pitt Panthers (9.0%), respectively.
