The No. 19 Auburn Tigers host the Jax State Gamecocks for a midweek in-state clash on Wednesday at Jane B. Moore Field. If you are wondering how to catch the action live, you have come to the right place.
Auburn earned an important SEC series win last weekend at home against No. 15 LSU and has another crucial series approaching this weekend on the road at No. 12 Alabama. Before the road trip to Tuscaloosa, however, the Tigers will host in-state foe Jax State for a midweek clash.
The Gamecocks should provide a great test for Auburn, as they enter the game with a 26-13 record, and boast a 12-3 record in A-Sun play, a league that features No. 24 Central Arkansas.
Collectively, the Gamecocks hit .273 as a team with .419 slugging, 28 home runs, and 175 runs batted in. Jax State pitchers have also struck out 211 batters and allow opposing batters to hit for an average of .243. Head coach [autotag]Mickey Dean[/autotag] knows that Wednesday’s game will be anything but a cakewalk.
“Jacksonville State swings the bat well,” Dean said ahead of Wednesday’s game. “They play fundamental defense. Their pitchers do a nice job of not putting themselves in trouble. They are going to work you in and out. It’s a great midweek challenge. It may be a ‘Bark in the Park’ but it won’t be a walk in the park.”
Auburn is 23-7 against non-conference foes this season and is 23-3 in games played at Jane B. Moore Field. The Gamecocks are 14-10 in games away from A-Sun competition and are 6-4 away from home. Auburn currently sits at No. 25 in the latest D1Softball RPI rankings, and Jax State is 0-2 against teams ranked in the top 25 with both losses coming to Tennessee.
