The Diamond Heels were in action Tuesday night, taking on the Charlotte 49ers fresh off an ACC series loss to Miami. With UNC needing to get back on track, they turned to Mac Horvath.
Horvath delivered the big hit for the Tar Heels in the bottom of the seventh inning, a two-run homer that gave UNC a 5-2 lead. It was the 14th homer of the year for the Tar Heels to power them to a 5-3 win.
After Charlotte got things started with a run in the top of the first, North Carolina responded with two in the third inning to grab the lead.
Johnny Castagnozzi singled home a run to tie the game and then Colby Wilkerson was hit by a pitch to force in a run. Tomas Frick added another run in the sixth inning before Horvath delivered the big hit to extend the lead.
Mac smashed that ball right off the scoreboard for his 14th homer of the year! 💥

The 49ers did attempt a late comeback, getting a run in the eighth, but that was all she wrote, with the ninth being a three-up and three-down inning.
The win gives the Tar Heels their 25th win of the season, with a nice boost of confidence heading to their weekend series against Boston College.
