Before the clipboard and headset, former New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels was speeding down the sidelines in a John Carroll uniform, making “You Got Mossed!” highlights out of an opposing defensive back.
The old college video vault was recently opened, and a video was unearthed of McDaniels, the current head coach for the Las Vegas Raiders, hauling in a 67-yard touchdown pass from former Patriots executive Nick Caserio. Both men played on the same team at John Carroll University and helped them maintain a winning record for four straight seasons.
McDaniels clearly practiced what he preached when blowing past the defense on this particular play.

McDaniels never made the NFL as a player, but as an assistant coach, particularly on the offensive side of the ball, he is immortalized as one of the best to ever do it.
He’s a six-time Super Bowl champion that spearheaded some of the greatest offenses in NFL history with coach Bill Belichick, Tom Brady and the Patriots. Now, he’s trying to make his mark on the head coaching side of things with the Raiders.
It’s quite the journey for the kid from Ohio that was snagging touchdown passes at John Carroll.
