Our friends over at College Sports Wire put out a new one-round mock draft this week. For the Pittsburgh Steelers, they have picked up on a current trend for that No. 17 overall pick and one we can get on board with.
Their mock draft has the Steelers selecting former Tennessee offensive tackle Darnell Wright in the first round as the fourth offensive tackle off the board. Honestly, if none of the top three falls to No. 17, the Steelers could do a lot worse than drafting the best natural right tackle in the draft It would allow the Steelers to solidify the right side and let Dan Moore Jr. and Chuks Okorafor battle it out to start on the left. Eventually, Wright could be an exceptional starting left tackle but he can cut his teeth on the right.
The one caveat to our excitement over this pick has to do with the No. 22 overall pick. I’m not sure why more pundits aren’t higher on former Clemson edge rusher Myles Murphy but if the Steelers took him at No 17 over Wright, I’d be elated as Murphy is a truly elite defensive prospect at a significant position of need for the Steelers.
Let us know in the comments what you think of this mock draft.
