Report: Florida QB Anthony Richardson ‘excelled’ in S2 Cognition test

According to KPRC 2 Houston’s Aaron Wilson, Florida QB Anthony Richardson knocked his S2 Cognition test out of the park.

Anthony Richardson clearly doesn’t suffer from test anxiety.

KPRC 2 Houston’s Aaron Wilson, in a report from Wednesday night, noted that the University of Florida quarterback “excelled” in the S2 sports science cognitive testing. Wilson’s source, in fact, went to the lengths of stating that Richardson “[knocked] it out of the park.”

The S2 Cognition test, which has been gaining some popularity throughout all sports, measures an athlete’s cognitive skill set while breaking down their decision-making process. Athletes, according to S2’s official website, take a “30-45-minute evaluation on a specialized laptop computer that measures how they process and make split-second decisions in their sport.”

If you’ve been paying close attention, this latest nugget shouldn’t really come as much of a surprise. Carolina Panthers general manager Scott Fitterer, who could very well use the 2023 NFL draft’s No. 1 overall pick on the apparent whiz kid, has already said Richardson has a sharp mind for the game.

“So, we met with him last night, and he was really good,” he told reporters back at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine. “Much further ahead mentally in terms of the football processing and what he knows about the game. He was really good.”

Richardson, of course, would then go on to ace the combine after Fitterer’s comments. Not only did he register a scorching 4.43-second 40-yard dash and shatter quarterback records for both the broad and vertical jumps, but he also wowed with his throwing exhibition to close out a sparkling weekend.

The main knock on the 6-foot-4, 244-pound dynamo, however, is his lack of experience—as he was a full-time starter at the college level for just one season. But seeing as though he’s testing off charts, both physically and mentally, perhaps that won’t really matter as much anymore.
