North Carolina head coach Hubert Davis will have to replace a staff member ahead of the 2023-24 season.
Inside Carolina is reporting Jackie Manuel is expected to leave North Carolina’s staff and will take on a role at American University. Manuel has spent two seasons in his role of director of team and player development under Davis since the head coach took the job.
He will move to a bigger role as an assistant for American University.
Manuel spent four seasons as a player for North Carolina, including starting for the 2005 national championship team. He was known for his defense and brought that element to the Tar Heels’ lineup.
At American University, Manuel will reunite with Duane Simpkins who is the head coach for the program. Simpkins and Manuel spent time as assistants under Wes Miller at UNC Greensboro.
