Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program received good news early Tuesday morning.
The Tar Heels landed their second player out of the transfer portal when Louisville forward Jae’Lyn Withers committed to North Carolina. He joins Paxson Wojcik as players who are joining the Tar Heels out of the portal.
The Huntersville, North Carolina, native is a former four-star recruit that committed to Louisville in the 2019 class over 18 other offers. Withers drew a great deal of attention in the transfer portal after making the decision to leave Louisville after three seasons with the program.
Over those three years, Withers averaged 8.1 points and 5.6 rebounds per game while shooting 45.9% from the floor. In 2022-23, he averaged 8.9 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.

For North Carolina, landing Withers gives them another option on the wing that they desperately needed after Leaky Black and Pete Nance graduated. UNC lost Puff Johnson, Caleb Love, Dontrez Styles, Will Shaver, Justin McKoy and Tyler Nickel to the transfer portal.
UNC is still involved with Stanford forward Harrison Ingram as well.
