Jets sign QB Tim Boyle

The Jets have a former Packers quarterback. Of course, not that one.

The Jets announced Thursday that they signed veteran quarterback Tim Boyle. Boyle, who spent 2022 with the Chicago Bears, came into the league in 2018 with the Packers. He’ll reunite with offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett — and will eventually reunite with another certain Packers quarterback. Boyle also spent time with the Detroit Lions, nearly completing a tour of the NFC North.

Boyle started three games for the Lions, throwing three touchdowns and six interceptions.

This gives the Jets a veteran backup to go along with Zach Wilson with Chris Streveler still on the roster as well. At the very least, this gives the Jets a body that knows Hackett’s offense to help run it just in case Aaron Rodgers isn’t in the mix when the offseason program begins on April 17.
