Penn State already had one of the best young running back duos the Big Ten has to offer going into the 2023 season, but the Nittany Lions added a veteran presence from the transfer portal with the addition of former Minnesota running back [autotag]Trey Potts[/autotag]. Potts committed to Penn State out of the transfer portal after four seasons with the Gophers.
Penn State has a dynamic running back combo with [autotag]Nick Singleton[/autotag] and [autotag]Kaytron Allen[/autotag], both having shined in their freshmen seasons for the Nittany Lions in 2022, but the position was lacking depth and upperclassmen leadership after Keyvone Lee opted to enter the transfer portal at the end of the bowl season. Devyn Ford had previously stepped away from football as well, leaving Penn State’s depth a bit of a concern during the spring.
