With the completion of the 2022-23 college basketball season comes the final USA TODAY Sports Coaches poll. There is no surprise at the top given that the Connecticut Huskies won the title. But were there some eyebrow-raising rankings among the rest of the top 25?
After Michigan State’s run to the Sweet 16, they jumped up to No. 20 from No. 40. They defeated the USC Trojans and Marquette Golden Eagles before the Kansas State Wildcats held them off.
UConn, San Diego State, Miami, and Florida Atlantic all had huge jumps of 11, 16, 12, and 20 spots respectively. The only team to crack the top four that wasn’t among the Final Four teams was the Alabama Crimson Tide who check in at No. 4.
The biggest loser of the rankings has to be the Virginia Cavaliers, who fell 13 spots to No. 23 as they were upset by the Furman Paladins in the first round of the tournament.
