Rutgers men’s basketball senior guard Paul Mulcahy announced on Thursday he is testing the waters and exploring the NBA draft. He will not hire an agent, leaving the door open for a possible return to Rutgers.
Mulcahy was an anchor for the Scarlet Knights these past few seasons, ranking fourth all-time in career assists with 457. Rutgers’ senior guard ran point guard for the Scarlet Knights for the past two seasons, shooting 45.1 percent for his career (308-683). Throughout his Rutgers career, Mulcahy combined for 818 points, 457 rebounds, and 112 steals. Since Mulcahy has been on the roster, the Scarlet Knights produced four consecutive winning seasons for the first time in 31 years.

In Mulcahy’s career, the Scarlet Knights had 12 ranked wins (school record) and have beaten the No. 1 team in the nation twice (first time in school history). In a statement released by the program, Rutgers head coach Steve Pikiell called his senior guard “one of the all-time winners on and off the basketball court.”
He was a strong leader for Rutgers and a veteran presence on the team over the past two years. The second half of this season, he played through a serious shoulder injury to help lead Rutgers to a third straight postseason appearance.
