The 2023 college football season is still months away but the excitement continues to grow as we get closer and closer. For the North Carolina Tar Heels, they have one of the best players in the country on the roster as quarterback Drake Maye returns for another year.
Fresh off a big year in his first season as a starter in 2022, Maye is considered one of the top quarterbacks returning with USC’s Caleb Williams. And on Friday, Maye earned some honors.
Maye was named to the Walter Camp All-America Second Team for the upcoming 2023 season. It’s just the latest accolade for Maye in his UNC career.

Maye finished on the second team behind only Caleb Williams who was the first-team quarterback on the list. The two should be battling it out back-and-forth all year long for the top quarterback in college football.
The quarterback was the only Tar Heel named to the preseason first or second team. It won’t be the last award for Maye either in the preseason as he will likely rack up more as the year goes on.
