Bill Simmons: LeBron James will join Draymond Green on the Mavericks

Sports writer Bill Simmons thinks he knows the next move up LeBron James’ sleeve.

Right now, prospects are looking up for LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. He recently returned after missing a month with a right foot tendon injury, and even without him, they played well.

After a win over the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday, they have risen to eighth place in the Western Conference.

There is a growing feeling that should L.A. stay healthy, it can do some real damage in the playoffs, if not this year, then next.

But James can opt out of his contract in the summer of 2024, and his history has shown he likes to leave his current team at the first sign of trouble and form a superteam elsewhere.

Bill Simmons recently said on his podcast that he predicts the Golden State Warriors’ Draymond Green, who can become a free agent this offseason, will sign with the Dallas Mavericks and James will follow him (h/t ClutchPoints).

Could Simmons feel this way because of Kyrie Irving’s recent trade to Dallas and James’ supposed desire to reunite with him?

The Boston-area sports writer also said Bronny James’ seemingly impending entry into the NBA could also entice the four-time MVP to head to the Mavs.

It always seems the elder James plans things out in advance and keeps those plans close to his vest. But at least for now, he seems very encouraged by the recent changes the Lakers have made and how they have been playing with or without him.
