Nets’ Mikal Bridges says ‘getting stops’ was reason for win over Rockets

Mikal Bridges credits ‘getting stops’ for Wednesday’s win over the Houston Rockets.

NEW YORK — Brooklyn Nets forward Mikal Bridges has been consistent on what the Nets have to do to win ball games. Whatever the result is for Brooklyn in any given game, he has always gone back to some common refrains that the team focuses on.

“Just get stops,” Bridges said after 27 points in Wednesday’s 123-114 win over the Houston Rockets. “I mean, they (the Rockets) was getting out in transition, scoring at will, and getting a lot of offensive rebounds.” Bridges continued. Brooklyn was able to win the game despite being out-rebounded 52-41 and being out-scored in the paint 60-46.

The Nets used a big 34-20 run in the fourth quarter powered by three-pointers to seal the win in the end. Bridges made four threes of his own and all of them proved pivotal in this game. “So, just getting stops, rebounding, and I’m just playing the right way,” Bridges continued. In the fourth quarter, Brooklyn held Houston to just 43% from the field which allowed them to make their comeback.
