Around the North: Ravens unsuccessfully tried to sign Baker Mayfield

The former number-one pick declined the chance to return to the AFC North.

Former number one overall pick of the Cleveland Browns, Baker Mayfield, signed a one-year deal this offseason to replace Tom Brady in Tampa Bay. Before that, however, reports say the Baltimore Ravens tried to bring Mayfield into town with the Lamar Jackson situation up in the air.

The Ravens are in a state of turmoil right now not knowing who their starting quarterback will be in 2023 and want competition for Tyler Huntley. It makes sense why Mayfield would choose Tampa Bay as they have much better weapons than the Ravens. If the Ravens are trying to add at the position it is another indication that things with the former MVP Jackson might be irreparable.
