MVP candidate Joel Embiid had another impressive scoring performance on Friday night at the Chase Center, but Jordan Poole and Steph Curry led the Golden State Warriors to a crucial 120-112 victory at home.
Curry had 29 points and was a game-high +20 on the night, while Poole led the Warriors with 33 points off the bench. Embiid had 46 – and went 19-of-22 from the free-throw line – but the 76ers’ squandered an 11-point lead in the fourth quarter.
Poole took over in the fourth, scoring 12 consecutive points for the Warriors in a thrilling duel with Embiid. In total, Poole scored 19 of his 33 points in the fourth when Golden State needed him most.
The Warriors remain in sixth position in the Western Conference standings with the victory, but the defending champs are now within a half-game of fourth place.
