Brooklyn Nets guard Ben Simmons was evaluated on Friday and the team found some bad news. The results of the evaluation show that the soreness in his back is due to a nerve impingement. This is just more bad news for a player in Simmons that cannot catch a break when it comes to staying healthy.
As of right now, Simmons will be out of action until Simmons and the team can fine the best course of action for him moving forward. Prior to Friday’s unfortunately news, according to head coach Jacque Vaughn, Simmons was able to do individual work on the court. However, before Thursday’s loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, Vaughn stressed to reporters that he isn’t worrying about when Simmons will be able to play again because he’s more focused on getting this team ready for postseason basketball.
Simmons has missed the past 15 games because of the soreness in his left knee and in his back. Brooklyn is currently on its worst losing skid of the season as they have lost five straight games for the first time this season. The Nets are now in seventh-place in the Eastern Conference and will face the sixth-place Miami Heat on Saturday to try to get back into the sixth and final playoff spot. Brooklyn will most likely have to make its push to the playoffs without Simmons playing again this season.
