Auburn softball endured their toughest weekend to date last weekend as they competed in the Oklahoma Hall of Fame Classic in Oklahoma City.
The Tigers faced 2022 Women’s College World Series participants in Northwestern and Oklahoma at USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium, and finished the weekend with a 1-4 record, with their lone win coming against Weber State on Friday.
“Plate adjustments on top of our defense is going to be areas of focus as we head into next week,” Auburn head coach [autotag]Mickey Dean[/autotag] said following Auburn’s 7-1 loss to Oklahoma on Sunday afternoon.
Due to their challenging weekend, the Tigers fell two places in the latest USA TODAY/NCFA Top 25 Coaches Poll from No. 19 to No. 21.
Auburn is one of nine SEC teams in this week’s poll, with two outliers, Texas A&M and Missouri, receiving votes. The Sooners remain No. 1 and Northwestern enters the poll after earning four wins in Oklahoma City.
Auburn returns to the SEC slate this weekend by hosting Missouri for a three-game set beginning Saturday night at 6 p.m. CT at Jane B. Moore Field. Missouri is receiving votes this week after winning a game in their three-game series at No. 8 Florida last weekend.
