After leading LSU’s women’s basketball team to its first berth in the Sweet 16 since 2014, stars [autotag]Alexis Morris[/autotag] and [autotag]Angel Reese[/autotag] are one step closer to being named All-Americans by the nation’s coaches.
The WBCA named both regional All-America finalists ahead of the release of the final list of players, which will come later this month.
Both players were big-time transfer additions for coach [autotag]Kim Mulkey[/autotag]. Morris, a fifth-year senior, previously played under Mulkey at Baylor, later transferring to Rutgers and Texas A&M before finding a home in Baton Rouge. As the team’s point guard, she’s averaging 14.7 points and four assists.
Reese, meanwhile, came in this season from Maryland, and the Baltimore native has become one of the best players in the entire country, especially defensively. She’s averaging 23.8 points and 15.7 rebounds, recording 30 double-doubles this season — an LSU record.
Both players will be in action on Friday night as the No. 3-seeded Tigers take on No. 2-seeded Utah in the Sweet 16. That game begins at 4 p.m. CT on Friday in Greenville, South Carolina, and will be televised on ESPN.
