The Memphis Grizzles have gone from a team that was easy to root for in the Western Conference to one that everyone is getting tired of outside of the city of Memphis. Dillon Brooks continues to be one of the centerpieces of that.
Last week, Brooks scuffled with Draymond Green about something that was said on a podcast. Now, he’s taking a shot at a former UNC basketball standout.
After Memphis’ comeback win over Dallas on Monday, Brooks took a shot at Theo Pinson, calling him a cheerleader for his antics on bench. Here is what Brooks said via Drew Hill:
“I just wanted to let him know he was a cheerleader. Same class, I grew up watching him play and he was a great player. Now he gets paid to cheerlead. I love it.”
Brooks did a pom-pom gesture at Pinson after a dunk in the third quarter, signaling that he thinks the Mavericks reserve is a cheerleader. He was unhappy that Pinson was standing up, referring to the NBA’s bench decorum rules.
But Pinson fired back at Brooks on Twitter saying that he owns real estate now.
I got some real estate I see..😂 https://t.co/V81QyWfxbf

We should also note Pinson was a key factor in the Tar Heels run to a national championship in 2017, when they beat Oregon in the Final Four.
In that game, Brooks shot 2-of-11 from the field and had 10 points in the losing effort. He watched Pinson and his teammates celebrate a title game berth.
As you know, we side with Pinson in this situation.
