High Point transfer Zack Austin has been contacted by the Alabama coaching staff, according to Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers.
Several other programs that have reportedly reached out to Austin are Clemson, Arkansas, Florida, Providence, and Michigan State. A handful of other mid-major and power-five programs have also showed interest.
Austin is one of the more proven players in the entire transfer portal. He spent three seasons with the Panthers. After being redshirted his freshman year, Austin made a name for himself as a sophomore.
He averaged 14.4 points per game, 2.2 blocks per game, and eight rebounds per game.
This past season, Austin averaged 14.1 points per game and 5.8 rebounds per game.
Overall, he has shot an impressive 42.4% from the field and 32.7% from beyond-the-arc. He is listed as a forward at 6-foot-5, 201 pounds. However, that is susceptible to change at his next school.
If he were to choose Alabama, he could be used in a similar way as Rylan Griffen. Simply put, he could play either the two or three. His ability to space the floor and facilitate could bode well in Nate Oats’ style of play.
Newest schools here: Michigan State, Alabama, Providence, Florida, UNCC, WCU, UAB, Tulsa, Austin told @Stockrisers. https://t.co/WCTzpxeYfr
