Florida recently hosted four-star cornerback [autotag]Jamari Howard[/autotag] on an unofficial visit during the month of January, and now the Westland (Hialeah, Florida) product has plans to return to the Swamp on Monday, according to Swamp247.
Howard is currently under verbal commitment to Michigan State, but he says he’s still willing to hear other programs out to ensure his decision is sound. Stopping by Florida on Monday is part of that process as is a Tuesday trip to Florida State. He’ll get back to East Lansing to see the Spartans in April for the team’s spring game.
“I am still talking to other schools, but Michigan State is love right there,” Howard said to 247Sports. “I am just hearing what other schools have to say. Just talking with other schools to make sure I made the right decision.”
Howard’s most recent trip to the Swamp gave him a chance to meet with the coaching staff and connect with some of the position coaches, including cornerbacks coach Corey Raymond. Wide receiver analyst Benedick Hyppolite has also connected with him because of his familiarity with South Florida.
It’s going to take a lot for Florida to flip Howard from Michigan State. He’s been locked in with them since September and is open about his process. Still, frequent visits are never a bad thing, so the Gators are clearly still in this race.
The 247Sports composite ranks Howard No. 159 overall in the class of 2024 and No. 17 among cornerbacks. The On3 industry ranking is even higher on him, ranking Howard at No. 134 nationally and No. 13 among those at his position.
