Dolphins to sign WR Braxton Berrios

He can fill multiple roles for Miami.

The Miami Dolphins are continuing to poach from their AFC East rivals, as according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, they’ve agreed to a deal with former New York Jets wide receiver Braxton Berrios.

Schefter reports that the contract is for one year, but the terms aren’t yet known.

Berrios, 27, was originally a sixth-round selection of the New England Patriots in 2018 after an impressive collegiate career at the University of Miami.

After spending his rookie season on injured reserve, he was claimed by the Jets at the start of the 2019 season, and he spent the next four years in green.

During his career, Berrios has recorded 107 receptions for 1,085 yards and five touchdowns. However, his biggest impact may be done in the return game. In 2021, he was an All-Pro returner after leading the league in yards per kick return (30.4).

At this point, Berrios appears to fill in as Miami’s third or fourth receiver, and he could take over return duties from Cedrick Wilson and Raheem Mostert, who both held those roles at the end of the 2022 season.

Interestingly, the wideout is the third former Jet that the Dolphins have signed this offseason, following the additions of quarterback Mike White and guard Dan Feeney.
