UNC basketball reaches out to guard in transfer portal

Hubert Davis and North Carolina have reached out to this guard in the transfer portal.

The North Carolina Tar Heels are hosting postseason meetings with players this week following the 2022-23 season, which ended in major disappointment. As Hubert Davis meets with players, there’s expected to be some departures in addition to both Leaky Black and Pete Nance running out of eligibility.

Davis has the chance to get a head start on the transfer portal as he tries to fill needs on next year’s roster. And the contact began on Wednesday.

Per Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers, North Carolina and Oregon are the latest teams to reach out to Towson guard Nick Timberlake, who entered the transfer portal after his season ended.

Timberlake is drawing a lot of interest early in the portal. In addition to UNC and Oregon, Butler, Xavier, Memphis and Ohio State are showing interest.

He averaged 17.7 points per game while shooting 45% from the field and 42.3% from the 3-point line last season. He’s a two-time first-team All-CAA selection and has been Towson’s best player.
