Twitter reacts to Texas A&M’s No. 7 seed in the 2023 NCAA Tournament

The Aggies’ 7-seed selection was a sign of disrespect from the committee, and Twitter let them have it in the mentions.

Texas A&M (25-9, 15-3 SEC) was deemed a 7-seed by the NCAA Selection Committee and the pitchforks were immediately drawn out on social media.

It wasn’t just the Aggies’ fateful that came to the team’s defense, for the most part, the larger college basketball landscape was just as bewildered as to how A&M could be seeded so low following their juggernaut end to the regular season.

After all, this is a team that stormed to a 15-3 SEC record, one game behind first-place Alabama. They defeated the Crimson Tide, Tennessee, and Arkansas at home. They’ve won at Auburn and Missouri and punched their ticket back to this year’s SEC title game.

It’s near impossible to ignore that body of work, even if you place an equal amount of weight on the Aggies’ non-conference record this season. A&M’s rebound in the latter half of the season made them a force to be reckoned with, which is arguably why no team wanted to draw them as a No. 5 seed, let alone a No. 7 seed.

Best of luck to the No. 10 Penn State Nittany Lions, whom the Aggies will meet in the First Round on Thursday. The same goes for the No. 2 Texas Longhorns, should we get a future SEC preview in the Second Round.

After Selection Sunday, Twitter provided some notable reactions from the Aggie fan base and even a few buffoons. If you need a good laugh throughout the day, check out some of these takes below:
