The Atlanta Falcons have traded for Patriots tight end Jonnu Smith, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported just before the start of the league’s legal tampering period on Monday.
According to Rapoport, the Falcons sent a seventh-round pick to the Patriots in exchange for Smith.
It's for a 7th rounder, source said. Arthur Smith lands an old friend. https://t.co/p8Rm4VtoWM

Falcons head coach Arthur Smith previously coached Smith during his time in Tennessee. The Titans originally drafted Smith in the third round of the 2017 NFL draft out of Florida International. The Patriots signed him to a four-year, $50 million contract in 2021.
Over six NFL seasons (four in Tennessee), Smith has recorded 169 catches for 1,851 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns.
Even though the team has a quality No. 1 tight end in Kyle Pitts, Smith should provide a quality No. 2 option and allow Atlanta to play in more two-tight end sets.
