Linebacker Sione Takitaki experienced a breakout for the Cleveland Browns in 2023. As the injuries in the linebacker room continued to pile up, Takitaki was asked to step in as MIKE linebacker and did not skip a beat. Unfortunately, he too suffered a season-ending ACL injury in December.
However, despite hitting the open market in free agency, the Browns could bring Takitaki back. According to The OBR’s Brad Stainbrook, both the Browns and Takitaki are open to an extension to keep him in Cleveland.
Given his significant injury this past December, Takitaki will not command a steep salary (it could even be the league minimum) as he will likely miss most of the 2023 season. Back in January, Takitaki told the media that he loves Cleveland and would love to be back as well.
Source: #Browns and LB Sione Takitaki are still in touch and a deal is “definitely open” to being reached. Browns will be in the market for a linebacker, and this isn’t expected to change anything.
