The ending may not have gone the way Penn State wanted, but the trip to the Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament championship game saw Penn State take the top-seeded Purdue all the way down to the final seconds in a two-point loss.
After being down by as many as 17 points with a little more than six minutes to play, Penn State stormed back with a gritty effort and pulled to within one point in the closing seconds and had a shot to tie or win it all with an inbound play with just over three seconds remaining on the clock. But it was Purdue who celebrated in Chicago as the teams were left to sit and wait to see where they would be paying next in the NCAA Tournament.
