The first day of the Mountain West basketball tournament was wild with an overtime game, two-point game, and one game that was an 11-point win.
The conference lived up to the hype for how the regular season went with wild outcomes and upsets. There were no upsets as all the higher seeds one and now the quarterfinals are set.

March 8 First Round
Game 1: No. 8 Colorado State 67, No. 9 Fresno State 65
The first game of the day came down to the wire and it was the Rams getting a big game from all-conference guard Isaiah Stephens who hit the game-winner on a floater with 2.7 seconds left.
The leading scorer for Colorado State was John Tonje had 20 points to help the Rams advance.

Game 2: No. 7 UNLV 78, No. 10 Air Force 70 (OT)
The hometown Rebels got the overtime win over the Falcons. UNLV had a good defensive stand at the end of the game to not allow Air Force to pull off a sizable upset.
UNLV did not play all that well, in fact, they played bad as they shot just under 40% for the game, but it was E.J. Harkless who led them to victory. Harkless ended up with a career-high 35 points to help UNLV advance.

Game 3: No. 6 New Mexico 87, No. 11 Wyoming 76
The Cowboys were without head coach Jeff Linder was not on the sideline as he was with his father who was ill. Wyoming was unable to get the win with their coach not on the sidelines.
The Lobos were Jaelen House had 28 points and Jamaal Mashburn combined for 50 points to lead the way for New Mexico who are moving onto the next round and hope to make a room.
