The latest PlayStation update lets you join Discord calls on PS5 at last, and it introduces some other useful features as well. PS5 Discord integration lets you link your PlayStation Network account with Discord and join or host calls on your console, but you’ll still need to start the process on your PC or mobile device.
With your accounts linked, and your PS5 firmware up to date, start your call on Discord. Choose the “Voice Options” setting, and you can pick which console to transfer your call to. From there, you can take over on the PS5 and even use the DualSense’s built-in microphone and adjust the volume via Discord.
You can check out full details of how the process works on Discord’s blog.
The PS5 update also adds a much-requested feature that makes playing digital games you own a physical copy of easier. If you installed the disc version of a game and decide to get the digital version or download it via PS Plus, you can play the digital version from the physical installation without having to insert the disc. In short, you don’t have to download the – often massive – files again or keep the disc inserted, making the process more convenient all around.
Finally, the new update adds variable refresh rate options for 1440p resolutions for all games that included VRR options previously.
