This hasn’t been the season the UNC basketball program had hoped for when they returned four starters from last year’s team that was a half away from winning a title.
But even with the struggles, one thing remained clear. Armando Bacot is still one of the best players in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
On Monday, the conference announced its yearly awards and Bacot was the lone Tar Heel to make any of the three teams. He was named to the All-ACC First Team for the second-straight year. Bacot was also in the running for the ACC Player of the Year award but finished third as Miami’s Isaiah Wong won the award.
In his fourth season, Bacot averaged 16.5 points and 10.8 rebounds per game while shooting 55.2 percent from the field. He earned the second-most votes of the all-ACC First Team but was third in Player of the Year voting.

Guards Caleb Love and RJ Davis were named honorable mention for the seasons that they had. Fifth-year senior Leaky Black finished second in the ACC’s Defensive Player of the Year award behind Virginia’s Reece Beekman.
Black was also named to the All-ACC Defense Team.
