Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders keeps on adding big names to the staff. This time, Coach Prime is adding former Alabama special assistant Sal Sunseri to the mix as the team’s new defensive tackles coach, according to Brian Howell of BuffZone.
Things changed earlier this week as Patrick Hill, who was previously brought in to be the Buffs’ DT coach, took a job in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings. Hill had previously been with LSU as an analyst, but the lure of moving to the NFL was tough for him to pass up. Then, the Buffs moved quickly and reportedly brought in Sunseri.
Sunseri has coached on four national title teams — three at Alabama and one at Florida State — so he brings a championship pedigree to a rejuvenated staff and roster in Boulder.
Sunseri spent two different stints with Alabama and was a defensive coordinator at Tennessee before, so his resume is impressive. He was in an off-the-field role with Nick Saban last year, and now he gets to move to one of the up-and-coming coaching staffs that features a ton of big names, including former Alabama assistant Charles Kelly as the team’s DC.
