Former Warrior Kevin Durant records 23 points in debut with Phoenix Suns

The Kevin Durant era is underway in Phoenix.

While the Golden State Warriors prepared for Thursday’s contest against the Los Angeles Clippers, Kevin Durant made his debut with the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday against the Charlotte Hornets.

Following his blockbuster trade from the Brooklyn Nets, Durant missed his first six games in Phoenix as he continued to rehab from a knee injury after the trade deadline. Durant has been out since Jan. 8.

After nearly missing two months, the former Golden State Warrior made his highly anticipated return to the court on Wednesday against the Hornets for his debut with the Suns.

In his first appearance in purple and orange, the two-time NBA Finals MVP recorded 23 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field with six rebounds, two assists and two blocks in 27 minutes. Durant also knocked down a pair of 3s from beyond the arc.

Devin Booker’s game-high 37 points on 15-of-26 shooting from the field with seven assists, six rebounds and two blocks in 33 minutes helped the Suns secure a win 105-91 win over the Hornets on Wednesday night.

Another former Warrior, Kelly Oubre Jr., led the Hornets with 26 points, but it wasn’t enough against the new super duo of Booker and Durant.

Durant and the Suns will make a trip to the Bay Area to meet the Golden State Warriors at San Francisco’s Chase Center on March 13.
