Tennessee offered a scholarship to 2026 linebacker Shaun Scott on Thursday.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound linebacker is from Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California. He earned second-team MaxPreps Freshman All-American Team honors.
“It felt great to have received an offer from Tennessee,” Scott told Vols Wire regarding his offer from Tennessee. “Seeing great players come out from there and do great in the league was just a humbling experience.”
Scott has formed close relationships with defensive analyst Danny O’Rourke and offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Joey Halzle.
“The most important thing I’m looking for in my recruitment is building a relationship with great coaches that are going to keep it real with me,” Scott said. “I want them to push me to reach my greatest potential.”
While scheduling visits during the summer, Scott does not have a timeline for his recruitment. He is also taking necessary steps in graduating early from Mater Dei.
“I’m visiting Tennessee this summer with a couple of teammates on my team,” Scott continued.
Scott currently plays as an edge rusher for the Monarchs, but discussed his versatility to play multiple positions at the next level as he develops.
“In college, I see myself playing any position to help my team succeed whether it is linebacker or edge rusher,” he said. “I want to see how my body develops before I make my decision, but I think I can be a hybrid and play both.”
Tennessee is Scott’s sixth Power Five offer. He holds offers from Colorado, Louisville, Michigan State, Arizona and California.
