Grading 8 proposed rule changes from ‘genius’ to ‘that’s just stupid’

Every year, the NFL competition committee hear’s rule proposals intended to improve the game. And since beauty is in the eye of the beholder, the merits of each suggestion are rightfully debated. Some of them pass, some of them get traction but don’t immediately come to fruition and others are outright dismissed.

The scouting combine in Indianapolis is the onset of each season’s suggested rule changes, when the competition committee comes together to hear proposals made by the league’s teams. The first vote on said proposals will happen at the first league meetings in Pheonix later in the month of March. Here’s my take on the merits of each of the proposals outlined by the Washington Post’s Mark Maske.
