Ravens GM Eric DeCosta wants QB Lamar Jackson in Baltimore

Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta spoke to the media about the quarterback position and Lamar Jackson

The Baltimore Ravens are gearing up for the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Indiana.  They are looking to see who might be the next crop of young and talented Ravens.  With only five picks in this years draft, the Ravens will need to be creative in order to improve the roster, but not hinder the future drafts in the process.

Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta spoke to the media before the combine started and was asked a lot of questions, including about the Lamar Jackson and the quarterback position. DeCosta reaffirmed that he wants Jackson to be in Baltimore, saying that you can’t win without a strong quarterback in the NFL.

“You can’t win in this league without a strong quarterback; that’s been proven. So, we want Lamar [Jackson] here. We think he’s one of the best quarterbacks in the league. He’s certainly one of our best players, and we want him back. So, we understand that. Living in a world without a quarterback is a bad world to live in, and I think there are a lot of GMs and coaches who would probably say that who are living in that world right now. We’re aware of that. I think we’ve been blessed since 2008 to have Joe Flacco and Lamar Jackson, and my goal is to continue that.”

Baltimore needs to resolve the situation with Jackson as quickly as possible. The team needs to have stability behind center, and all parties should be happy if Jackson can sign a long-term deal with the organization that benefits both sides. Once that domino falls, the front office can focus on the other needs that they have to build a championship team.
