Reggie Wayne returning as Colts WRs coach

Reggie Wayne announced he will be returning as the Colts WRs coach.

The Indianapolis Colts will be making changes to the coaching staff, but one of the organization’s most iconic figures in Reggie Wayne is returning as the team’s wide receivers coach.

Wayne, who held the role as a first-year coach in 2022, announced via Twitter on Tuesday that will be returning as the wide receivers coach under new head coach Shane Steichen.

Despite it being his first season as a position coach and the struggles within the Colts offense as a whole, Wayne showed immense promise in the role. Not that it’s any surprise one of the most illustrious wide receivers to ever play the game would succeed as a coach.

Wayne was a key figure in the wide receiver room. Michael Pittman Jr. was one reception shy of becoming the youngest Colts player ever to record 100 catches in a season.

Rookie Alec Pierce flashed plenty of potential as a boundary wide receiver, and he showed immense promise as a vertical threat.

Meanwhile, Parris Campbell stayed healthy for the first time in his career and posted career-high numbers in receptions (63) and receiving yards (623).

The Colts are likely to add some depth to the room considering Campbell and Ashton Dulin are both free agents. And having the continuity with Wayne in the room should only help the young wideouts blossom even more in their development.
