Rutgers men’s lacrosse bounced back this week, pulling off an impressive weekend upset and now find themselves moving up in the polls
No. 9 Rutgers rose five spots in the latest poll following a 10-6 win over then No. 6 Loyola. The home win helps right the ship for the Scarlet Knights after a tough loss a week ago at No. 20 Army. With the win over Loyola, No. 14 Rutgers is now 3-1 on the season.
Rutgers was led by three goals and four assists from junior mid Shane Knobloch. Kyle Mullin made 16 saves in the win.
Rutgers is the third-highest ranked Big Ten program in this week’s poll. Leading the way for the Big Ten are No. 4 Maryland and No. 8 Ohio State.
Also in the rankings from the Big are No. 14 Johns Hopkins and No. 17 Penn State.
Next on the schedule for Rutgers is St. John’s (0-3) on Tuesday at SHI Stadium.
Last season, St. John’s went 2-12. The two teams played last season, a 23-6 win by Rutgers.
