Report: Jalen Ramsey could have a ‘hot market,’ Lions linked to Rams CB

Jalen Ramsey could be traded soon and he’s expected to have a strong market – with the Lions being linked to the Rams CB

Jalen Ramsey has been one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL for several years, but the Los Angeles Rams are preparing to potentially part ways with him this offseason. They’ve reportedly had trade talks with teams about him already and those around the NFL believe it’s “very likely” he’ll be traded in the coming weeks.

One team that makes a lot of sense as a suitors is the Detroit Lions. They have a former Rams executive, Brad Holmes, as their general manager and have made two trades with them in the last two years: one involving Matthew Stafford and one that included Michael Brockers.

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN said on SportsCenter Sunday morning that the Lions are a team that keeps coming up, with the Raiders also being a logical landing spot.

“Now, Jalen Ramsey. This could be a hot market on the trade front,” Fowler said, via Bleacher Report. “The Rams are talking calls here, so I’ve talked to some teams this weekend to see what’s going on here and the Detroit Lions come up fairly often. It’s just a reasonable potential fit because Brad Holmes, the GM there, was with the Rams for a long time, he knows Ramsey’s game, they need cornerback help. They’ve been sort of a build through the draft team, but could be one to watch. Las Vegas Raiders need help there, so Ramsey, with his skillset, only 28 years old, even though he’s due $17 million should have some suitors.”

It’s rare for a top-tier defender to become available, so it makes sense that Ramsey would have a strong trade market. And even though he does have salaries that range from $14.5 million to $17 million in the next three years, the team that gets him will have three seasons left on his deal – which is a huge plus.

The Rams shouldn’t trade him for pennies on the dollar, needing cornerback help themselves, but if they’re desperate for cap space and draft capital, they might feel inclined to pull the trigger.
