The rose petal celebration is quickly becoming a distant memory and the focus on the upcoming 2023 football season is well underway. And after winter workouts and an upcoming weight room max-out event in the football building coming up this week, the start of Penn State’s spring football practices is just about here.
Penn State will officially begin its spring football practices on Tuesday, March 14. The Nittany Lions will conduct 15 spring practices, highlighted and capped by the annual Blue-White Spring Game in Beaver Stadium on Saturday, April 15.
Penn State will enter its spring football practices knowing the bar of expectations is being raised after finishing off an 11-2 season with a victory in the Rose Bowl over Pac-12 champion Utah. Penn State has already been hyped in the way-too-early top 25 rankings as a potential top 10 team with College Football Playoff contention behind it. Key players like [autotag]Olu Fashanu[/autotag] on the offensive line and Big Ten freshman of the year [autotag]Nick Singleton[/autotag] at running back give the offense some key pieces to look forward to. Sophomore quarterback [autotag]Drew Allar[/autotag] is expected to take the offense by the wheel as the successor to Sean Clifford. And [autotag]Kalen King[/autotag] continues to be viewed as a top defensive back and [autotag]Abdul Carter[/autotag] should be a scary defensive threat again in 2023 as a sophomore.
Penn State faces a good schedule in 2023 that opens at home against West Virginia in a revival of an old regional series that has not been played since Penn State joined the Big Ten in 1993. Penn State also gets Michigan at home and visits Ohio State and will play crossover games with Big Ten West contenders Iowa and Illinois.
Penn State’s Blue-White Game will be played at 2:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, April 15. Any broadcast information for the game will be made available at a later time.
