Florida makes a mild drop in NET rankings after Kentucky loss

Predictably, the Gators lost some ground in the NET rankings after Wednesday night’s loss.

Todd Golden’s Gators put up an admirable fight on their home court on Wednesday night against the Kentucky Wildcats but the visitors were too much, outlasting the Orange and Blue, 82-74, to add yet another nail to the coffin of Florida’s NCAA Tournament hopes.

Entering the game, the Gators were ranked No. 52 in the NET rankings but following the Quadrant 1 loss fell to No. 55. Florida is now 14-14 overall with a 7-8 mark in Southeastern Conference play, notching a 2-12 mark in Quad 1 games, 1-1 in Quad 2, 7-1 in Quad 3 and 4-0 in Quad 4 matchups.

Next up for Florida are the Vanderbilt Commodores who host the Gators on Saturday, Feb. 26, inside Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville, Tennessee. The two teams have already faced off once this year with Vandy stealing an upset win in Gainesville back on Feb. 11. The Commodores are currently ranked No. 91 in the NET. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. EST and can be watched on ESPN2 or heard on the Gator Sports Network.
