Chrono Cross is getting a massive patch 10 months after launch

Fans are getting some much-needed fixes almost a year after the remaster’s release.

Square Enix has put out several solid remasters in the past year, though Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition came out with more than a few issues on PC – which might get fixed in an upcoming patch.

On Monday, Square Enix announced an extensive update for Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition (thanks, RockPaperShotgun).

“The update includes a wide range of changes,” reads a statement on Twitter. “Framerate improvements, changes to the growth system for Pop, and fixes for other bugs. Thank you so much to all of you for your thoughts and feedback on Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition.”

There are no official patch notes yet, and we don’t know when the update will come out, but this is big news for anyone playing on a PC. Since the remaster’s launch in April 2022, there have been performance problems, hitching, and other technical woes out the wazoo. So these tweaks are a long time coming.

It’s a shame since Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition is a pretty fantastic re-release otherwise. Our review of the Nintendo Switch version praised some of the narrative’s hard swings and punchy combat. The console versions do have some of the issues mentioned above but are still relatively bug-free compared to the PC port.
