WATCH: Vic Fangio explains why he joined the Dolphins

He also explains his philosophy in evaluating players for his new unit.

The Miami Dolphins have added a new coach to Mike McDaniel’s staff, officially hiring Vic Fangio to become their defensive coordinator after his Philadelphia Eagles were defeated in the Super Bowl.

While Fangio won’t be officially introduced to the fan base and media until next week, he took some time to sit down with Dolphins team writer and podcaster Travis Wingfield to discuss his decision to join the franchise among other topics.

One of the most fascinating pieces of this interview was Fangio explaining how he doesn’t like to look back at the film of the players on the roster that he’s going to in their old system. He’d rather get his hands and eyes on them on the practice field to see how they work.

That’s probably a good thing for a number of Dolphins defenders, as there were a few who struggled to meet expectations in 2022. Luckily, they’ll have a chance to make an impression with their new boss this offseason.
